We can probably build a super high compression 1600cc w/ max'ed out valves. So pocket the valves in the pistons first, then follow w/ removing the deck. Hence makes more sense to remove the deck last. If you remove the deck without checking, you might end up w/ valves that will hang down too much too late and you end up w/ no room to cut from the piston tops. Then you can adjust the how close the valves need to be by taking away the deck a little at a time. Pocket the valves as needed but heed the max depth of cut. I recommend mocking the setup first as-is and then find out if the valves will hit coz of gross valve lifts. I take the deck out last as once you cut this out no going back. Also factor in the gross lift of the valves versus the max depth of cuts the pistons can tolerate. Gotta figure out how deep you can notch before you are too thin already.

You could always angle mill the heads to "straighten out the valve angle so knotches dont have to be as deep&angled as much.but there are other things that need done too if you do this.Ĭlay the pistons, install the heads, rotate the engine over. so he does not sleep at the lights this year lol lol take care se you at the races. i am going to buy hank some of that NOS energy drink to keep him awake.

we are going to beat ohio tom next year with a 1600cc motor lol lol or we will try too beat him now if i can teach hank how to sand bag. the cam i am useing for this motor is a V26 engle i can use 1.4.1 rockers or 1.2.1 rockers or even 1.3.1 rockers i dont like cutting valve pockets on these thin head pistons they sell now adays lol.its going in as 600lbs pipe buggy by the way me and hank will be raceing you this next year. never do i use stock vw made heads for racing. i use after market heads that are made thicker. but i used stock valve after market heads with a engle 130 cam the valves did not hit. Hi NSR thanks for info i have fly cut heads 220 thousands for 1600cc motors. Even a picture of blown holes, a whole fin coming off the head coz it is just so thin. There is a chapter in the Fisher book how deep you can flycut the roof on stock chambers. Thought 0.150" be the absolute limit for deep flycuts as the roof gets really thin. My memory serves me right, you should be about to come out of the top of the head if those heads were flycut 0.180". The cam needs to be degreed in where you want it to be if your trying to get as much as you can. 060&.080 befor but I would not recomend it. you should be able to cut them untill you have. When I was mocking up my CE heads I took a pair of valves marked them for total lift and then put them in the head and slid them to full lift.
